To Hear Our Luncheon Speaker

Prof. Marilyn Sneiderman
Professor, Rutgers University School of Management and Labor Relations  Director
Center for Innovation in Worker Organization

Speaking on

Organizing for Greater
Economic, Racial and Social Justice

Powerful forces are driving our nation’s extreme economic and racial inequality, deteriorating public services, and the growth of precarious work. The Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO) at Rutgers is working to confront growing inequality by strengthening and integrating the work of unions, social justice organizations, and “Alt-Labor” groups focused on organizing precarious workers.

To support its mission, the Center is actively helps organizations recruit and grow their membership, build the bench of future leaders, innovate strategies for cross-organizational campaigns, and incubate ideas for emerging movements in worker and community organizing.

Its program "bargaining for the common good" is one example. This effort expands the focus of public sector bargaining by uniting community groups and unions around bargaining demands that include broader community issues.

We at DC LERA invite you to join us at our monthly luncheon on May 25th to hear Prof. Marilyn Sneiderman, Director of the CIWO, give us a fascinating guided tour of how the Center is working to win to equity in our economy and our society.
